Fathers Day 2009 Part 1: The Toledo Zoo

Fathers day this year was a blast. A large group of us went to the Toledo Zoo for the day. It was a special weekend at the zoo too! They had fathers day celebrations, the grand opening of the new children's neighborhood (sponsored by Fisher Price Little People), and also a live Little People show celebrating Fisher Price's Little People's 50th anniversary. The kids loved the show and were actually interested in it for 3/4 of it. It was about 40 minutes long and they started getting a little stir crazy in the end. We visited the new children's area and the enterance had these great animal mask things hanging there. The kids could walk up behind them and look at the eyes or intereact with them in some way. The bird let the kids hang from it's feet. Aiden and Madelynn really loved them. Malachil was very tired and this point and just stood staring at them. I eventually did get him to stand near the cheetah mask for a picture. I especially liked the fish. Aiden has been addicted to the Jonah Veggie Tales movie and sing-along for awhile lately, so I told him to stick his head in the fish's mouth just like Jonah. He said, "Jonah" and then put his head in it! Too cute.... We also rode the train, saw some (but not all) animals, and got to pet some goats. I can't wait to take them again this summer and check out the remainder of the children's area that we didn't get to. We missed so much, but enjoyed what we did see.

More to come on fathers day 2009. We had quite a bit of fun when we got home too and more on daddy....
