Wow! Where has the week gone? It's been busy around here. I've been working late and we've had lots of things to do around here to get ready for another open house. Let's hope someone shows up this time! Last time our realtor sat here for two hours by himself. At least the cats kept him company! :)
Anyways, I've calmed down a bit about Malachi's evaluation. I'm still upset but I'm beginning to process things. A big thanks to my friend Chris who called the other night and let me cry my eyes out. She has experience with these types of things and was a huge help for me. Chris, I wouldn't be at this point if it weren't for you! Thanks also to the other people who have sent me kind words. It's great and comforting knowing that we have so many people out there who love us and are willing to offer any help they can. I love you all!
In other news, Josh and I have decided to start teaching the kids (and ourselves) some basic sign language to help them communitcate their needs until the speech therapy kicks in and they begin talking a ton more. We started with 'more' because it was one that I already knew the sign for. Besides that it allows the kids to ask for more milk, food, or whatever else. Aiden picked it up with a few hours yesterday evening. Madelynn began using it a bit later and was consistantly using it today. Malachi didn't take to it and although it was frustrating for all of us, we kept trying. He suprised us tonight at dinner and made the sign for 'more' and then pointed to the cantelope we were having with dinner. He already had some on his plate but OF COURSE we gave him more because we were so proud of him! He has also been using three news words the past few days. They are 'up', 'arm', and 'house'. I'm still concerned about him and have lots of anxiety about his evaluation on this coming Tuesday, but I continue to be proud of him and pray that he'll make greater improvements with additional help.
Now all I have to do is find a website or book that provides us with more signs to teach the kids! Hopefully I'll have more to post tomorrow and I'll try to through in some fun pictures of the kids. Isn't that what you really want to see on this blog????? :)
