So, while at Walmart today trying to quickly get just a couple of items, we had two interesting things happen to us. The first was a woman who was stocking Edy's ice cream....yum! She stops us as we walk by to tell us that we've been an inspiration to her. She saw us Hallmark a couple of years ago. We were obviously shopping with the 3 babies in tow. She was pregnant with her second child at the time and as she told us "was very unhappy about it". There would be a 10 year difference in the ages of her first child and the one she was about to have. She told us that she remembers complaining about he upcoming child and got an awakening when she saw us so happy with our triplets. She said to us today that "if we could do it with three and have such beautiful, happy, well behaved children and still look like we're sane and enjoying it...then she shouldn't complain about her situation." While it was a little weird to be stopped in the middle of Walmart and told this story, I'm flattered. God works in mysterious ways sometimes and I think he used us that day in Hallmark to change this woman's perspective on her new baby.
As we continued our way to the check out, we were lucky enough to get one of our 'normal' cashiers that is truly good and loves to see the kids come through. She had fertility problems of her own and was never able to have children so she very much enjoys seeing ours come through her line. Then another Walmart employee comes up to the register. She seemed very young. Our cashier says to her, "they have triplets". The young girl oohs and ahhs, then says, "are they all natural?"
Are you kidding me????? I kind of ignored her question because of the way in which she worded it. I wasn't in the mood to point out the differences in fertility treatments and how just because you have multiples doesn't mean you had invitro done. We continued with paying for our items and let the young girls ooohhh and ahhhh some more.
On the way out it dawns on me of what I should have said.....
No, one is natural, one is a clone, and the other is synthetic!
