Me Time

Today was a special day! My mother-in-law came to watch the kids for the day and I went shopping with my sister for the whole day. We were gone from about 10:15am until 5:30pm. It was so much fun, but I do have a couple of "what are they thinking" stories from the day

Janet and I were looking to buy bathing suits...that was the whole purchase. All women know how hard it is to find a great bathing suit and the search is even harder when you are searching for a plus size suit. Luckily for me, I bought and loved the first swim suit that I tried on! I did try on several, but settled on a 2-piece mix and match type suit. The top is brown and turquoise and the bottom is brown. I'm very happy about it. Both of us tried on lots and after a couple of trips to the dressing room, Janet found a very cute one too...with polka dots! Then, we also found cover ups to match at another store and I also got new flip flops that match too! I've never been so excited about wearing a bathing suit!

Now, as if the day couldn't get any better!!! We were in Baby Gap shopping the clearance racks (who can afford it at full price) and I was searching for a specific dress that I had seen online for Maddie. Janet was talking to me and I totally didn't hear her because I was sidetracked by who I saw. A local celebrity...Melissa Voetsch from Toledo Channel 11 News. I watch her frequently. So, then I had to secretly tell Janet and try NOT to make a big deal out of it. Janet and I giggled like we were teenagers! It was so funny. So, Melissa walks away and Janet and I find the dress. It was clearanced for $19.99 and we were debating if it was cheap enough and worth it. Here is part of our coversation...

Me: It is pretty cute.
Janet: It's cute, but is it worth $20?
Me: Is it really THAT cute???
Melissa: It's REALLY that cute!

Janet and I were stunned that she talked to us. After Melissa walked away, I said, "If Melissa Voetsch thinks its "really that cute" then my baby girl needs this dress! I bought it and got an extra 30% of my entire order so it was all good! Can you believe we saw Melissa Voetsch??? I know, many of you are thinking I'm silly and childish, but hey...it's Adrian...we don't get Hollywood celebrities! We gotta be proud of our locals!!!

Now, onto the "what are they thinking" stories.

#1: Walking in the mall a man trying to sell something in a center aisle booth puts on a creepy smile and tries to hand something to Janet and I. Way creepy smile!!!! What was he thinking??? A women walks next to us and says, "Don't talk to him, don't make eye contact, keep walking, and it's okay to be rude if he's following you." Great advice. There are a lot of these types at the mall.

#2: Man trying to sell something in another center booth says to us as we're walking by, "Are your nails natural?" I'm wondering...as opposed to what???? Seriously, did you look at my nails? I have a nail biting bad habit and at the current moment MANY short and broken nails. I wouldn't PAY for fake nails to look like this! What was he thinking????

#3: Another man at a center booth tries to stop Janet and I. When we don't stop he shouts after us, "What would you call your hair style?" I shout back at him, "PIGTAILS!" Seriously, I had the front of my hair pull back in two pig tails. What was he thinking???? Janet and I cracked up! That one was just stupid!

#4: Pulling in the parking lot by Old Navy we notice a police car with its lights on near the side of the road leaving the parking lot. Like all other obnoxious people, we slowed to gauk! :) (Hey, there was no one behind us!) Someone had knocked over two large mailboxes (you know...the big blue ones) and cut a hole into one of them, probably stealing the mail. These things were attached to huge cement blocks! What were they thinking???? And how did they get away with it in the middle of a very busy shopping complex????

That's all for tonight. I'm going to go chill and watch tv and enjoy the last few hours of 'me time' before I go to bed. Big announcement coming tomorrow!!!!

Oh, and don't forget to play along with my diaper box game. I'll post the anwers on Wednesday! Come on guys....I've only had one person play along. What fun is that???
